Each original research article offered for publication in ACTA VŠFS is first assessed in an editorial procedure. The article can be rejected without a review procedure if within the editorial procedure it is found not to meet the requirements of a professional text, in principle does not meet the conditions set out in the guidelines for authors or does not fall within thematic focus of the journal.
The executive editor consults the executive board members for their opinion on the submitted article and suggestion of suitable reviewers. Executive boards members examine anonymized articles according to their research experience and individual topic knowledge. The executive editor has got the right to recommend to the author making changes before submitting the article for review.
If the article passes the evaluation in the executive board, it is then submitted for double-blind peer review. The article is given to two independent reviewers together with an appropriate review form with rich, logical structure and possibilities to express their concerns, comments and conclusion. When the review results do not provide clear result about the quality of the article the third reviewer may be utilized. The executive editor may consult the executive board and editorial board members in case of complicated or contradicting reviews.
Anonymous reviews are given to the authors as valuable feedback with a request for considering requested changes and incorporation of comments into the text. The executive editor decides about the inclusion of an article in a specific issue of a journal.
All submitted articles undergo an internal process of plagiarism check.
